Eight Artists/YouTubers Arrested for Promoting Online Gambling, Preparations to Arrest Others as well
In Nepal, eight artists and YouTubers involved in the promotion of banned online gambling have been placed under arrest for three days for investigation. They were sent to the District Police Office in Kathmandu for further investigation into their involvement in gambling or facilitating it. This information was provided by the spokesperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division and Inspector Rabin Regmi.
The office apprehended eight individuals associated with the online gambling platform “OneXBet” on Wednesday and made them public on Thursday. The arrested individuals are Marichman Shrestha (Balchi Dhurwe), Raju Paudel (Raju Master), Pawan Khatiwada (Myakuri), Alice Rai, Jalan Ghartimagar (Jalan), Ganesh Devkota (Ganesh GD), Saroj Ghimire (Dhedu Budho), and Begam Nepali (Bhatabhate Maila).
According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division, these accused individuals had been promoting various sports through their YouTube channels on the OneXBet platform. They were arrested as a special team formed by the office apprehended them from various locations on Wednesday.
The investigation by the Metropolitan Crime Division reveals the nature of their involvement and transactions
with OneXBet. The spokesperson and Inspector Regmi stated, “The district police officer will conduct further investigation into the specific allegations and hold those involved accountable.”

On Wednesday, the Kathmandu District Court placed them in custody for four days for investigation. During this period, the police will conduct internal investigations and make preparations for further arrests, keeping a close watch on other individuals involved in the promotion of betting.
Nepal’s Muluki Criminal Code 2074 (2017) prohibits engaging in or promoting gambling under Section 125. Under Subsection 920(1)(a) of Section 125, the first offense of playing or facilitating gambling is punishable by imprisonment of up to three months or a fine of up to 30,000 rupees. Subsection 920(1)(b) states that for a second or subsequent offense of playing or facilitating gambling, the punishment is imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 50,000 rupees, and for subsequent offenses, additional imprisonment of up to three months or a fine of up to 10,000 rupees.
